On May 31, 2025, a Chinese photographer captured the spectacular phenomenon of red sprite lightning for the first time in Shannan City, China's Xizang Autonomous Region. Sprite lightning forms in the mesosphere of the atmosphere as a result of electromagnetic waves generated by lightning strikes. It exists in the air for an extremely short period and is difficult to photograph.
